The Finca Buena Vida Seaside Neighbourhood is being developed along sustainable development principles. We aim to create a place that feels like it has always been there and grew out of the jungle organically as folks settled in. Cart paths and walking trails follow naturally occuring courses and have an organic look and feel. In this same vein, all the properties for sale have been surveyed and segregated based on the natural topography of the land, while taking into consideration privacy concerns and viewscapes.

All infrastructure is being put in place with a mind to low-impact effects on the surrounding environment - there is no heavy equipment on site, no interference with natural water courses, minimal introduction of non-local materials (gravel, sand, rocks, etc.), minimal cutting of trees and other natural flora and fauna.

As well, we have chosen to make available for sale only 50% of the total 1.2 km length of our seashore. This means that large tracts of the shoreline are being maintained in their natural state to provide crucial habitat to both marine life and the myriad life forms that inhabit the tidal plain at the ocean’s edge.

And certainly, all household waste water must be filtered, cleaned and returned to the environment. All toilet facilities must be based on ecologically sound design - no septic sytems are allowed.

By taking this sustainable development approach, we are proud to say that we have saved this 102 acre property from becoming yet another megadevelopment that overwhelms the waterfront and drastically alters the natural landscape and ecosystem of the property. A large percentage of the land is reserved as common area that will be maintained either in it’s natural state as old growth jungle or, if meadow land, maintained as fruit orchards and gardens in order to further the farm’s permaculture and sustainability goals.

As a balance between what we humans want in a tropical oceanfront paradise and what the environment requires to maintain it’s ecological integrity, the Finca Buena Vida Seaside Neighbourhood and Home on Dolphin Bay, our low key holistic health and wellness retreat, are a success story that favours our environment, while still allowing for all the creature comforts and recreational options that a seaside retreat and residential neighbourhood can be expected to offer.
