Well, after many months here in Bocas del Toro, trying to prod the building construction schedule along with many starts and stops, we are really firing on all cylinders now. We have a great crew of carpenters and helpers now and I just finished the rest of the plumbing for the retreat centre. Now all that’s missing is a gravity fed pipeline from the Big Dig (see below) we did in the valley down to the retreat area on the shores of Dolphin Bay.

The final elements of the solar energy power system that will electrify the retreat centre are almost complete and the kitchen addition at the back of the seaside lounge is ready for sheetrock.
Beautiful turquoise paint with deep violet accents now adorns all of the retreat buildings and we are preparing to lay up the damn that will hold back nearly 200,000 gallons of fresh water held in a deep water reservoir we created this summer near the grandfather trees.
By late this month we will have returned to construction of the road to the Phase Three hilltop and completed much of the retreat center and common areas landscaping.
I will post photos of the progress we have been making here on Dolphin Bay, Panama soon and I will post a neighbourhood update shortly too - Houses are sprouting up all around the project!!

another year of saving and slaughtering has come and gone. I’ve no hard statistics to back up my claim, but it appears that the slaughterers are outpacing the savers. And now some of them are on our doorstep, looking to capture wild dolphins to put on display for the profit margins of the few… Read the rest of this entry →

Well, hot on the heels of the first sale of land in Phase Four of lot 3, we have yet another new neighbour on the South Shore - Lot 4 next door is officially sold. It’s been a busy but fruitful past few weeks here on the farm in beautiful Bocas del Toro and we are very excited about the newest neighbour to join our little community. There were alot of folks writing, asking questions about Lot 4 with an eye to coming for a look, but alas the pretty young thing is now spoken for…
And just this afternoon we received our first offer on a Phase Three hillside lot. A pleasant chap from the northern US, is in the process of becoming the new owner of Lot 2 - he came for a meadow lot and left with a spectacular view out over Dolphin Bay.
Folks just seem to fall in love with the place while they are here.

Wahoo!!… It’s official - We’ve sold 12 of the 24 available lots of land for sale in our residential project here on Dolphin Bay. Our newest neighbours actually purchased a couple weeks ago, but what with a brand new baby boy and building a retreat centre, seems I haven’t found time to revise the website and neighbourhood plan in time for a blog post. I’m sure if JensenBlu had a choice he’d much prefer this photo than the one I posted a few days ago when he was only hours old. He’s dressed better and looks cuter… funny how you come into the world the same way you go out - wrinkled, blotchy and dressed in little more than diapers. He doesn’t have any cats though and no stacked up old newspapers - Luna is thankful for that as her uterus was rather large near the end just with the lad himself.
Anyway, here he is cleaned up, shaved and dressed. He seems to get cuter by the hour. Though after nine months of living in a darkened sack of warm liquid, I guess the only way is up.
I’ve also added a photo of JensenBlu with his big brother Zuul.

Well, after nine months in production and countless back and leg massages, our second son has arrived! JensenBlu came into the world at 10:21am Sunday morning at 6lbs. 12 oz. All is well with mother and son and we should be back on the farm by Saturday.

Will and Sandy,
First of all, I want to apologize for not writing sooner. It seems I have fallen into the Bocas Vortex and time has gotten away from me in ways I could not have imagined.
You sound like great people and I am really looking forward to seeing you in the Fall. When I was in the states I could not imagine what was keeping those already in Bocas from writing and sharing their experiences. Well…. now I understand. Read the rest of this entry →

It is with disappointment and some shame that i report to you of a great tragedy that is beginning to unfold in the waters of Dolphin Bay. The government of Panama has decreed that the capture of live wild dolphins within it’s national waters is perfectly reasonable and should be encouraged by law. Read the rest of this entry →
