another year of saving and slaughtering has come and gone. I’ve no hard statistics to back up my claim, but it appears that the slaughterers are outpacing the savers. And now some of them are on our doorstep, looking to capture wild dolphins to put on display for the profit margins of the few…
More than Christmas, I wish every day was earth day - maybe then we would have more reason to fix our circumstances than savage them for yet another 24 hrs. This may be an old number, but something like the equivolent of 214,000 acres of rainforest are destroyed each and every day…incredible. And 137 species oflife form become extinct with each passing 24hrs.
And yet we still must fight hard to persuade our local and federal governments to outlaw obvious problems like the creation, distribution and discarding of billions of plastics bags per year.
Maybe if we begin to approach Earth Day like we do New Year’s - Today and each and every April 22nd, everyone should make a resolution to end one earth bashing bad habit they participate in… any takers? let me know here.
One note - we have purchased a much more earth and sea friendly outboard motor recently and should take possession soon! Our new four stroke engine will pollute the sea and the air less, we will save $$ on gas and it’s quieter!!! Another win-win scenario for Mother Earth and the pocketbook.
Anyway, it ain’t over till the fat lady chokes to death, so we still have some time - don’t let the green of money overwhelm the green of our dear, sweet and fragile Mother Earth.
