happy earth day!!!

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007 by admin - swanny

another year of saving and slaughtering has come and gone. I’ve no hard statistics to back up my claim, but it appears that the slaughterers are outpacing the savers. And now some of them are on our doorstep, looking to capture wild dolphins to put on display for the profit margins of the few…
More than […]

four days cuter

Thursday, March 29th, 2007 by swanny

I’m sure if JensenBlu had a choice he’d much prefer this photo than the one I posted a few days ago when he was only hours old. He’s dressed better and looks cuter… funny how you come into the world the same way you go out - wrinkled, blotchy and dressed in little more than […]

Dolphin Bay’s newest resident

Monday, March 26th, 2007 by swanny

Well, after nine months in production and countless back and leg massages, our second son has arrived! JensenBlu came into the world at 10:21am Sunday morning at 6lbs. 12 oz. All is well with mother and son and we should be back on the farm by Saturday.

bocas del toro dolphins under threat

Sunday, March 18th, 2007 by admin - swanny

It is with disappointment and some shame that i report to you of a great tragedy that is beginning to unfold in the waters of Dolphin Bay. The government of Panama has decreed that the capture of live wild dolphins within it’s national waters is perfectly reasonable and should be encouraged by law.
Guess who’s […]

christmas on the farm

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006 by admin - swanny

well, another fresh and sunny christmas has come and gone here on the farm. Still feels weird for me to be having christmas during what to me seems likes mid summer. We had lights and there was one or two boxes with wrapping, but I need to be in winter to really be in christmas […]

from bocas del toro to david and back again

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 by swanny

if this was 13 yrs ago i’d be telling you how yet again i find myself sitting in a run down hotel in a medium size Central American city writing in my notebook about what i have seen in the streets below. I’d speak about kids drinking Coca-Cola from sandwich bags in front of a tin shack […]

walking with Zuul

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by swanny

it’s amazing how little ground one can cover when walking with a one year old. We made it to the horse gate, visited with our local Bocas del Toro horses for a bit and returned to the house… that was an hour. Zuul had a hell of a time though! His first real walk with us rather than […]

wonderous Bocas del Toro weather

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006 by swanny

Can you say wind? - huge, gusty, completely abnormal fierce wind! Well, that’s the kind of weather we have been having here for three days in a row now.  Hardly any rain in the forecast, but seas with 7 and 8 foot rolling swells that far too often have angry white caps atop them. We had to drive to […]

In America today, what…?

Saturday, November 18th, 2006 by swanny

It truly never ceases to amaze me. Never. America is whacked!
OJ. Dude. You wrote a book about how you would’ve killed your wife… if you had wanted to? What the fuck is that!!?? Everybody knows you did it! All I’m seeing is a guy with habits he cannot afford and needs he cannot meet looking […]

Zuul is a trip

Thursday, November 16th, 2006 by swanny

In the last year, parenting has come on like a trainwreck to the head, but after surpassing the milestone of Zuul’s first birthday on the 5th of this month, I am really settling into the whole offspring and father parenthood thing nowadays. I like having my son around. He runs to me and grabs my leg smiling and laughing while I write […]
